Background

Cassandra completed her MA in Clinical Psychology (Child Track) at Simon Fraser University in 2022 and is currently completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Simon Fraser University. Cassandra’s training to date has focused on psychoeducational assessment and evidence-based therapy for children and youth. Her work at our clinic is currently supervised by Dr. Arnold and is offered at a reduced rate. In addition to her current work, Cassandra has completed two practica at Dr. Sharon Arnold and Associates. She has also completed practica at Cornerstone Child and Family Psychology Clinic and is currently completing a practicum at BC Children’s Hospital in Medical Psychology Outpatient Services and Intake Clinic as well as the Healthy Minds Centre.

Areas of Speciality

Cassandra specializes in providing treatment to children and adolescents through a collaborative and warm approach. She aims to help children and adolescents feel like they can manage their difficulties. Cassandra practices mainly from a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy framework, but also uses techniques from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy when appropriate for her clients. She has experience working with youth with a variety of presenting concerns including; anxiety (social anxiety, specific phobias, generalized anxiety), depression, selective mutism. Her goal is to establish a safe, fun, and welcoming environment where youth feel supported, appreciated, and valued in their thoughts and feelings. Cassandra typically involves parents in their childs therapy, as it can help children bring what they learn in therapy into their daily life.

Cassandra’s assessment work focuses on helping youth and their families identify and address challenges in their home and school environment. Typical areas of assessment include; learning (i.e. reading, writing, math), ADHD, executive functioning, social or emotional difficulties, intellectual functioning, and giftedness. Cassandra’s goal is to help children feel at ease and have fun while completing their psychoeducational assessment. Cassandra’s favourite part of assessment is helping children and families discover their unique strengths.
