Areas of Speciality
With her work at Dr. Sharon Arnold & Associates, Georgia believes that developing strong coping skills and understanding one’s mind, are both parts of the foundation that help take control of one’s mental health. While using evidence-based treatment models, Georgia focuses on helping individuals understand their anxieties (e.g., generalized anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety, specific phobias), as well as recognize their values, and succeed in achieving one’s goals. Identifying one’s strengths and building upon them allows for continued growth and understanding through life’s challenges. Georgia also has experience helping individuals through mood challenges and life stress (e.g., grief, adjusting to life changes, school-related stress).
Approach to Therapy
Georgia provides a comprehensive therapy outline for helping clients with their anxieties and provides support in achieving the best outcome for her clients, as they form towards facing their phobias or other presenting concerns. She approaches therapy with a client-directed lens, focusing on approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Emotion-Focused theories. Georgia believes that therapy is about learning to express our feelings, grow, and learn tools and information, to help us cope and progress through life’s inevitable ups and downs.
