Background

Natalie (she/her) completed a Masters of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary. In addition to her psychometrist work at Dr. Sharon Arnold and Associates, she works for a lower mainland school district. Natalie has extensive experience working in the field of education, both in Alberta and in BC. She completed a Bachelor of Education in Alberta, and spent the next 6 years teaching at the elementary level. After completing a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, she moved into program planning and curriculum development for exceptional learners.  Ultimately, Natalie decided to pursue school psychology, integrating her teaching, program planning, and clinical experience in a Sschool psychologist capacity. Her professional interests include early literacy and reading development, executive functioning, and memory.  Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, three teenagers, and two dogs. She is a member of the B.C. Association of School Psychologists.

Approach

Natalie believes that supporting students must also include working closely with parents and teachers, using a team approach. Identifying a child’s strengths, planning targeted interventions, and consideration of the whole child is essential. Natalie strives to build a warm and encouraging environment, fostering feelings of success for each child she works with.

Areas of Speciality

Natalie Chalus is a Certified School Psychologist who specializes in assessment, intervention, and consultation for children and adolescents experiencing difficulties related to learning and development, attentional difficulties, challenges with self-regulation, or who require enrichment in the school setting. Natalie has significant clinical and school-based experience working with students with learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, chronic health and physical disabilities, social-emotional challenges, and giftedness.
