Scott Morrison, M.C.

Registered Clinical Counsellor, RCC

Background

Life is full of challenges. While many of these challenges are necessary for personal development and growth, others can generate stress, anxiety, and distress. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), I can help you deal with difficult emotions, test your thoughts, evaluate your coping strategies, and become motivated to make a change.

I (he/him) take a strong values-based approach in my work with clients. During our time together, I will learn about you and what you value most, and pay attention to all significant areas of your life – not just the symptoms. Taking a whole-person approach, our first meeting together will allow me the opportunity to understand the difficulties you are experiencing, the context in which those difficulties are occurring, and the strengths that you possess that we can use to help you make changes. Collaboratively, we will establish therapeutic goals and, through a scientific-based assessment of your difficulties, we will gain a better understanding of how to achieve those goals. I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Brief Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) to tailor the treatment approach to fit your individual needs and goals.

Approach to Therapy

I have experience working individually with children, adolescents, and parents with a broad range of presenting concerns such as anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, and attachment disturbances. I believe that parents are a great resource and source of strength for their children and can be an integral part of the treatment process.

Areas of Speciality

Scott administers psychoeducational assessments with children and adolescents under the supervision of Dr. Arnold that aim to assess learning disabilities, giftedness, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, and various socio-emotional challenges. Scott focuses on making the experience as fun and easygoing as possible by taking time to get to know each child, build rapport with them, and ensure a warm and fun environment.
